A Witness to the Planning of the March on Washington
Rev. Horace Sheffield
Rev. Horace Sheffield III of Detroit first met Dr. King as a child through his father's involvement in civil rights. He attended planning meetings for the March on Washington with his father. He recalls, "I remember Dr. King very vividly. Remember him in my house. I remember things that he said to me. He said, 'It's about what we give back ... giving ourselves and spending our lives for other people.'"
