Protesting a Department Store in Atlanta

Judge Brenda Hill Cole of Atlanta was a student at Spelman College in 1960, when the student nonviolence movement was beginning. She recalls a protest march targeting a department store at which Dr. King was arrested, and describes a phone call Mrs. King made to then-presidential candidate John F. Kennedy to appeal for her husband’s release.
