Disparity Between the North and South

Ruth Loving of Massachusetts was a member of a local NAACP chapter in 1963. She recalls the hearing stories of life in the south, "We were concerned here in Massachusetts about what was going on, and happening in our southern states ... but it's hearing those stories that people came up to visit their aunts and uncles from the southern states that ... I just couldn't believe," Loving said.
