Four Bombed Churches Hold Services

On January 13, 1957, three days after four Black churches and two pastors' homes were bombed in Montgomery, Alabama, congregations held Sunday services amidst the debris. Less than a month before, the Supreme Court ordered desegregation of the city's buses ending a year-long bus boycott, which was supported by all four churches and the targeted pastors, one Black and one white, were civil rights leaders.
