Ready to Get My Freedom

In the spring of 1963, Janice Wesley Kelsey began attending mass meetings in Birmingham, Ala., at the urging of a friend. When the Children’s March began in May, she was an active participant who was ready to go and get her freedom. Kelsey recalls walking out of school with other students to join the protest, her subsequent arrest and events which led to the end of the Children’s Campaign in Birmingham.
