Part of My Family’s Legacy

Kathryn Sheffield of Detroit recalls her family living under threats from the KKK due to her father's voter registration efforts in the South. She was excited to attend the March on Washington, and "to see the country coming together to try to make things better." Of the march, she said, "I cried. I was mesmerized, I think he took me and everyone there to a place that none of us had been taken before."
