America's First Black Television Weathercaster

Broadcast Pioneer Trudy Haynes broke color barriers as the first African-American weather caster in the U.S., and as the first black television reporter in Philadelphia. Of her school years, she recalled, "In those days if you didn't do well you were put in the last row and so all the blacks [...] that were bussed, we didn't want to sit in the last row. So we kind of did our homework to keep up or to go ahead."
