The Memphis Sanitation Workers' Strike of 1968

Elmore Nickleberry

Elmore Nickleberry was one of the striking sanitation workers in Memphis. He believed in the strike, and was honored that Dr. King would be joining them. He said, "I heard it through some of the people at the union hall, said that Dr. King was coming to Memphis ... I was glad for him to come. I think everybody was glad for him to come. We thought maybe we'd get some justice that way."
