Racism and Resolution

Rev. Dr. Joseph Lowery

Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery, Co-founder and President Emeritus of the SCLC shares a story of racism from his youth, and the resolution that came years later. He said, “I was coming out of a place called The Sweet Shop that was run by my father … when this big police officer was about one third in and punched me in the belly with his nightstick and said ‘Get back … dont you see a white man coming?'”
